With No Smoking Day just around the corner, now is the time to think about kicking the habit.

Support is on hand as North East Lincolnshire Council’s wellbeing service will be holding pop-up drop-in sessions in Freshney Place over the coming months.

The team will be offering advice and support to help people become smoke-free and lead a healthier lifestyle. It’s never too late to quit smoking, even if you’ve tried before, and you can start taking steps now.

According to NHS Better Health, new national data reveals that, on average, every cigarette takes approximately 20 minutes off a person’s life. That’s why this year’s No Smoking Day message focuses on ‘taking back your life’.

Not only are there huge benefits for your health, but you could save around £2,500 a year on average by quitting smoking – that’s around £48 a week.

The wellbeing team will have a stand in the main foyer of Freshney Place, between 10am and 1pm, on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 12 March – No Smoking Day
  • Friday 11 April
  • Friday 16 May – Mental Health Awareness Week
  • Friday 30 May – advice and support ahead of No Tobacco Day
  • Tuesday 10 June – Men’s Health Week
  • Friday 13 June – Men’s Health Week

Wellbeing workers will be on hand to provide support for various aspects of your wellbeing, including but not limited to, stopping smoking, healthy eating, weight management and emotional wellbeing.

They will be able to offer advice, signpost to services and take down your details to be in touch for further support and 1:1 sessions.

There will specifically be male wellbeing workers on hand during Men’s Health Week.

This wellbeing support from the team is always available to the local community.
