People in Grimsby are being invited to help build a new organisation, led by the town, that will back people’s ideas and ambitions.

A free Community Design Session will take place at Docks Beers on Tuesday, October 13.

The workshop will be an opportunity to discuss what a new organisation for the town needs to do to help people back each other to build a positive future in Grimsby and be a home for the town’s Growing Together Fund.

The town has already shaped the Growing Together Fund, a trail blazing community Fund where local people decide where money goes – and this is a next step towards building on the future of this ambition.

The session follows an event at Docks Beers in July, when more than 40 people from the town helped shape the Fund’s Strengthen & Grow pot. Their conclusions, including that local people should make the funding decisions while experts advise, now underpin how that pot runs.

Crystal Ness, Place Lead for Grimsby and North East Lincs, at Our Future, said: “In July, people said clearly how they wanted Strengthen & Grow to work, and that is how it now works.

“This session is about something bigger. Exploring how to shape an organisation that helps to back ambition, connects the fantastic ideas and people in the town, and provides the resources that can meet and match this momentum.

“Nothing is off the table, when it comes imagining what the future of the town can look like.”

The session runs from 11am to 12.30pm. Food is provided and no experience is needed. Places can be booked free through Eventbrite.

Our Future is supporting the delivery of the Growing Together Fund and its future, alongside social investment advisers from Key Fund. The work is backed by the Greater Grimsby and Pride in Place boards, with the support of North East Lincolnshire Council and in partnership with people across the town.
