Families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being encouraged to explore the North East Lincolnshire SEND Local Offer’s growing range of advice, resources, and activities.
The SEND Local Offer is designed to help families find information, support and opportunities available across North East Lincolnshire.
One popular area of the website is the ‘Things to Do’ section, which highlights local activities, events, clubs, and inclusive opportunities for children and young people with SEND.
Alongside opportunities to get out and about, families will find the ‘Libby app’, a free digital library service available through your Lincs Inspire library membership.
Libby allows users to borrow the ebooks, audiobooks, magazines and more that are available from Lincs Inspires’ collection from the comfort of home using a smartphone, tablet or computer.
The service offers a convenient and accessible way for children and young people to enjoy reading, discover new interests and access educational resources.
Audiobooks can be particularly beneficial for those who prefer listening to stories, while ebooks provide adjustable text sizes and other features to support different reading needs.
Jennifer Steel, Service Director for Education, inclusion and Integration at North East Lincolnshire Council said: “We know that families are always looking for trusted information, accessible activities and resources that can support their child’s development and wellbeing.
“The SEND Local Offer brings these opportunities together in one place, and the Libby app is a fantastic free resource that makes reading more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”
