The Immingham & Habrough Neighbourhood Board has formally held its inaugural meeting, bringing together board members and partners to begin shaping a long-term programme of investment and improvement for the area through the Government’s Pride in Place programme.
The meeting marked an important milestone for the board as members came together for introductions, agreed governance arrangements, and considered the board’s Terms of Reference and Assurance Framework. These discussions established the foundations for how the Board will operate and how decisions will be made as the programme progresses. The Board also agreed to appoint a Programme Manager as soon as possible to help support and coordinate the programme.
The Board will meet regularly over the coming months to begin developing priorities and plans for investment in the two communities.
Over the next decade, £20-million will be invested in Immingham and Habrough, giving local people a significant opportunity to transform their neighbourhoods and improve opportunities for residents.
The Government announced in September that 264 neighbourhoods across the country would benefit from a share of £5 billion through the Pride in Place Programme. The Immingham & Habrough Neighbourhood Board has now been established to oversee the programme locally and identify where funding can deliver the greatest and most sustainable impact.
The Board is independently chaired by Andy Hopkins, Director of Operations at Immingham Town Council. Elaine Norton, an Immingham resident and Project Manager at One Voice Immingham, has been appointed as Vice Chair.
Board members represent a wide range of sectors and organisations from across the community, ensuring a strong and diverse local voice.
Andy Hopkins said: “It was great to see such enthusiasm from members at the first Board meeting. It was also pleasing to see MHCLG in attendance, showing a keen interest in our area and offering their support. The Board has agreed to meet frequently over the coming months so we can get things up and running, including community engagement and identifying potential quick wins.”
Elaine Norton added: “As Vice Chair of the new Pride in Place Board, it was fantastic for us to come together for our very first meeting and begin shaping a shared vision for our area. I’m incredibly excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to listen to residents and help bring their ideas and aspirations to life. By putting local voices at the heart of everything we do, we can create a stronger, more vibrant place that truly reflects the pride people feel in their neighbourhoods.”
