North East Lincolnshire Council’s street cleansing team are currently working through their busiest weekend of the year. And what a difference a few hours make!
The small team have been clearing up after thousands of visitors that have descended on Cleethorpes this weekend – here’s a few photos that show the extent of the litter!
Street cleaning workers have just done the biggest clean up of the year this morning, after huge amounts of litter were left by people last night. And not only that, there’s been litter picking by volunteers through the event too – a big thank you from us for helping to keep the resort clean.
Did you know, Cleethorpes has more than 320 litter bins, including many for recycling paper and plastic bottles. But as fast as the team were emptying them yesterday, they were refilling!
For Armed Forces Weekend, there’s been extra vehicles parked in the resort to help remove the waste, along with litter picking throughout. But bins were filling up as soon as they were emptied!
No amount of bins can cope with the number of people in the resort, so if you are visiting the resort and a bin is full, please do help by finding another or take your rubbish home with you.
