Get your garden waste collected for £1.89!

North East Lincolnshire residents can now sign up for their garden waste collection for 2026/27.

The scheme enables residents to safely and correctly get rid of their grass cuttings, hedge trimmings and even fallen fruit.

This paid for garden waste service is used by more than 26,000 households across the borough with 6,668 tonnes collected last year alone.

Brown bins are collected and emptied once every two weeks and costs £43.50 per bin for the year. Those who sign up before the start of this year’s collections will receive 23 collections – costing £1.89 per collection.

However, those who sign up after collections begin will still be liable to pay £43.50 despite having fewer collections.

Those who have opted for a direct debit will be automatically charged for another year unless cancelled.

What happens to the waste?

Garden waste is shredded at the NEWLINCS waste management site in Immingham and sent to Kirton Lindsey and Riby to be made into compost.

Councillor, Henry Hudson, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Net Zero, said: “This is a great opportunity to improve recycling across the borough.

“It’s essential that we all do as much as we can to help improve the sustainability of North East Lincolnshire.”
