Foster friendly businesses
Our foster friendly business scheme
Launched last year during Fostering Fortnight 2024, the Foster Friendly businesses scheme offers the opportunity for local businesses and organisations to make provisions for employees who are also foster carers, or those who may choose to become foster carers in the future. Foster carers can also benefit from various offers and discounts.

“Making a declaration to become Foster Friendly we believe is making a commitment to the community. We should be a part of it. We are a part of our community, and we want to make sure we are proactive.”
Mark at E-Factor, a ‘foster-friendly’ business.
Employers
Becoming a ‘foster-friendly’ business means offering support to employees who are foster carers, or who want to become foster carers. This can include flexible working arrangements, additional leave for fostering-related commitments, and raising awareness about fostering in the workplace.

“The foundations have been laid and a new inspiring culture, a golden thread even, being woven through, around and extending beyond the confines of social services; establishing and building links with the whole community and borough of NELC. It’s all about the children.”
Foster carers
Being Foster Friendly is all about supporting foster families, raising awareness in the community, and celebrating the amazing work foster carers do. It also helps recruit new carers, so kids can stay in loving homes nearby. Foster Friendly Businesses offer discounts, services, and fun experiences. Just show your ID badge to access these perks.
