From the Titanic to the extinction of the dinosaurs, the latest displays at the Fishing Heritage Centre have plenty to see and is attracting a lot of attention.

Brick History and Brick Futures are the star attractions at the museum, offering an insight into the world through the median of LEGO bricks. Families, school children and everyone in between have come to see the exhibition with plenty of positive reviews.

The displays take visitors on a journey through time – starting out with ancient cave paintings before they make their way through to the invention of the telephone, ending up at the Blitz in World War Two.

A refreshing approach to history, many have found it a great way to learn about the world in a completely different format.

Mother and daughter Helen and Deanna Taylor were amazed by the displays when they came to visit. “A lot of work has gone into this and when I first walked in, I thought it looked great,” said Helen.

She added: “I’d certainly come again to see another exhibition here; it’s a great space. I’m also planning to bring some other people here – it’s such a great visual way to see history.”

Deanna was also impressed by the ability to learn more about the world and to see how our history can be displayed in plastic.

“It’s very impressive and a good way to introduce people to different eras in history.”

She added: “The piece I found most impressive was the London Blitz. It’s amazing how someone has designed it to look like that – so much thought has gone into the whole exhibition and it’s lovely to see.”

After spending time in the exhibition, visitors are asked to leave their views on a postcard with many being positive about the displays. One said: “We loved the LEGO and it gave us so many ideas on what to build in the future.”

Another added: “Thank you for putting in so much time and effort – brill.”

To see Brick History and Futures for yourself, visit the Muriel Baker Gallery at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre before Monday, 4 May.
