Victims Code
All victims of crime have a right to receive information and support from organisations like the police and courts. The Code of Practice for Victims of Crime in England and Wales (Victims’ Code) – GOV.UK sets out the minimum standards and what should happen from when you tell the police about a crime until after the trial.
Victims’ Information Service
The Government’s Victims’ Information Service- external site offers valuable information about reporting a crime, police investigations, going to court, and after an offender is sentenced. It also explains the help you should receive and gives information on how to find specialist support after different types of crime.
Victim Support Humber
If you’ve been a victim of any crime or have been affected by a crime committed against someone you know, Victim Support is an independent charity that helps you find the strength to deal with what you’ve been through, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. Witness care is also a specialised service in the UK that provides support, updates and assistance to victims and prosecution witnesses from the point of charge until the conclusion of a criminal case. Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) Victims’ Champion
- The ASB Victims’ Champion for North East Lincolnshire provides dedicated support to repeat victims of anti-social behaviour, victims of hate crime and vulnerable victims within our community. The service is designed to ensure individuals receive the right help at the right time, while enhancing and complimenting the support already available across the area.
- The ASB Victims’ Champion works to support repeat victim’s, raise awareness of the ASB services, and help people access practical advice, guidance, and onward support when needed.
- If you are experiencing ongoing anti social behaviour, have been affected by hate crime, or feel vulnerable and need support ring 01472 313131 and ask for the ASB Victims’ Champion.
- The ASB Victims’ Champion works closely with other services, including the Youth Justice Service Victim Liaison Officer, where concerns relate to the behaviour of children and young people.
