New team at the top

The new council Cabinet that will drive forward the plans for the next year has been announced for 2018-19 at the council’s Annual General Meeting yesterday (Thursday 24 May).

The make-up of the Cabinet is as follows:

  • Cllr Ray Oxby is Leader of the Council
  • Cllr Dave Watson: Deputy Leader / Portfolio Holder for finance, governance and resources
  • Councillor Peter Wheatley: Portfolio Holder for regeneration, housing and skills
  • Councillor Matt Patrick: Portfolio Holder for environment, transport and energy
  • Cllr Jane Hyldon-King: Portfolio Holder for health and wellbeing and adult social care
  • Cllr Gaynor Rogers: Portfolio Holder for culture, heritage, tourism and inclusive communities
  • Cllr Kath Wheatley: Portfolio Holder for children, young people and education
  • Cllr Dave Bolton: Portfolio Holder for safer and stronger communities

Cllr Oxby said: “This year will be a pivotal one in terms of our progress on our priorities and delivery of works on the ground. I’m confident that the make-up of my Cabinet, and that of the various Scrutiny panels will make sure we keep our focus on what’s important to the area and bring the challenge that’s needed.

“All councillors bring different perspective and background to their respective roles and I’m committed to working with all political parties to make sure we get the best deal for the people who live and work here in North East Lincolnshire.”

In addition to the new Cabinet, the following appointments were made to Scrutiny Panels and Committees:

  • Overview and Scrutiny – Councillor Steve Beasant
  • Economy Scrutiny Panel – Councillor Phillip Jackson
  • Communities Scrutiny Panel – Councillor Ron Shepherd
  • Children and Lifelong Learning Scrutiny Panel – Councillor Ian Lindley
  • Tourism and Visitor Economy Scrutiny Panel – Councillor Keith Brookes
  • Health and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Panel – Councillor Stan Shreeve
  • Planning Committee – Councillor Ros James
  • Standards and Adjudication Committee – Councillor Terry Walker
  • Licensing and Community Protection Committee – Councillor Ian Barfield
  • Appointments Committee – Councillor Ray Oxby
  • Audit and Governance Committee – Mr Tim Render (Independent Chair)
