North East Lincolnshire Council’s Community Educational Psychology Team is pleased to announce the launch of a new telephone support service for parents and carers of children and young people aged 0 to 25 years.
The new service, which launches as part of North East Lincolnshire’s Experts at Hand support, will provide parents and carers with direct access to information, advice and guidance from experienced professionals.
The dedicated phone line will be available every Thursday from 9.30am to 3pm on 01472 326666.
Parents and carers are encouraged to call if they would like a listening ear, practical advice, or guidance on a wide range of topics affecting children and young people, including education, emotional wellbeing, family life, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The service has been designed to offer families a way to talk directly with the Community Educational Psychology team when they need them.
Jennifer Steel Service Director for Education, Inclusion and Integration at North East Lincolnshire Council said:”We know there is a wealth of information, support and services available across North East Lincolnshire, but it can sometimes be difficult for families to know where to start or who to contact.
“This new phone support service offers parents and carers a friendly, informal opportunity to speak with a member of our Community Educational Psychology Team.
“Whether you’re looking for practical advice, a sounding board for concerns, information about local support, or simply someone to help point you in the right direction, we’re here to help.
“Our aim is to provide inclusive, wraparound support that helps families feel informed, empowered and connected to the right help at the right time, supporting positive outcomes for children and young people.”
Experts at Hand is part of North East Lincolnshire’s local response to national SEND reforms, supporting a shift towards earlier, more accessible and joined-up help for children, young people and families.
It is a developing approach that brings specialist advice closer to communities, education settings and the people who support children and young people, drawing on professionals such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists without families always needing to navigate formal referral routes first.
By providing referral and diagnosis-free support, Experts at Hand aims to make expert advice more accessible and ensure families receive help as early as possible.
