More than 75 people, including professionals, senior leaders, service providers and community organisations from across North East Lincolnshire attended an event recently to help shape the new Domestic Abuse Strategy.
The event, held at Grimsby’s Centre4 in Nunsthorpe, brought together colleagues from Housing, Children’s Services, education settings, NHS providers, mental health services, domestic abuse services, and police among others who contributed to the development of the new strategy.
The workshop focused on how organisations and community services can work together to respond to the realities of domestic abuse in North East Lincolnshire and ensure the strategy reflects the needs, experiences and priorities of our people.
At the event, attendees heard local data and intelligence, and insight about the prevalence and impact of domestic abuse in our area, alongside presentations highlighting the voices and experiences of people affected by domestic abuse.
Participants also took part in group discussions exploring key themes within the strategy, including prevention and culture change, victim safety and support – including children, and strengthening partnership working across organisations and sectors.
Partners highlighted the importance of developing the strategy collectively, recognising that domestic abuse is a complex issue that requires coordinated action.
The workshop was part of a wider programme of engagement which includes community insights, surveys and lived experience contributions, ensuring those that have lived with abuse will be at the centre of the future services. Feedback gathered through this process will help shape the final Domestic Abuse Partnership Strategy and future priorities for North East Lincolnshire.
Now the workshops, surveys, and community insights have been completed, work will continue with partners and stakeholders to co-develop the final strategy, which is expected to be launched later in the year.
