Allotments

Residents interested in growing their own fruit and vegetables, spending more time outdoors and improving their health and wellbeing are invited to attend an open day at Carr Lane Allotments on Wednesday 26 August, between 9.30am and 11.30am.

The event will give visitors the opportunity to view a selection of vacant allotment plots, find out more about becoming an allotment holder and speak directly with staff about the application process.

Allotments offer a rewarding way to enjoy the outdoors while also seeing financial benefits of producing fresh, homegrown fruit, vegetables. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a complete beginner, having an allotment can provide a relaxing space to learn new skills, stay active and enjoy nature throughout the seasons.

Allotments can become a place to unwind, connect with nature and meet like-minded people within the local community. Gardening is also recognised for its positive impact on health and wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, boost your immune system and stay active whilst spending more time in the fresh air.

For families, an allotment can provide a great opportunity to spend quality time together, as well as teach children where food comes from and encourage healthy eating habits through growing and harvesting their own produce.

Anyone unable to attend the open day but still interested in more information on vacant plots, please contact the allotments team on 01472 326289, option 3 and then option 4, or email allotments.enquiries@nelincs.gov.uk.
