If you fancy looking at the world according to LEGO® pieces, then come down to the Fishing Heritage Centre.

The Brick History exhibition takes a deep dive into the history of our world, exploring a range of milestones and key events. Take in the eruption of Pompeii a Viking invasion or take a trip back to the Roman Baths.

Created by Warren Elsmore, the exhibition will be housed in the Muriel Baker Gallery from Friday, 3 April, to Monday, 4 May. It’s the perfect way to spend the Easter holidays or just pop along and see it for yourself.

Also in the exhibition are a range of other activities and experiences including colouring sheets and handling LEGO®, giving everyone chance to express their inner artist.

However, if you haven’t had enough LEGO® for one day then make sure to take home an instruction sheet that’ll teach you how to make two models related to the exhibition – and then display them in your own home!

Louise Bowen, Senior Curator at Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, said: “This is such an exciting exhibition for us. We love to use this space to showcase all types of unique art and this is certainly that.

“LEGO® pieces are something people of all ages know and love and I can’t wait to see the models.”

Alongside the Brick History exhibit will be Brick Futures, created by Unseen Arts and funded by Create North East Lincolnshire. The exhibition shares LEGO models, stop motion animation and artwork created by local children and young people. The display explores their ambitions for themselves and the future of the local area.

Natasha Morley, Creative Director of Unseen Arts, said: “This programme combines LEGO with meaningful creative skill-building; from animation and sound design to printmaking and ceramics.

“It’s exciting to see young people discovering new talents while exploring what shapes our borough. Brick Futures invites them to imagine futures, identities and connections to place that feel bold, hopeful and entirely their own.”
