Members allowances
Elected Members receive an allowance for their role.
This allowance information is published in the following categories:
- civic and mayoral allowances
- basic allowances
- special responsibilities allowance
- phone and ICT allowance
- travel allowance
- parking charges allowance
Elected Members are no longer entitled to join the local government pension scheme (LGPS).
An Independent Remuneration Panel exists to review the Members’ Allowances Scheme. The Panel is required to make recommendations to the Council every year or whenever the Council decides to either revoke or amend its current scheme. It is for the Council to decide on the Members’ Allowances Scheme that is put in place, having regard to the Panel’s recommendations.

The attendance information below is based on Member attendance at public meetings of the Council.
Non-attendance may be due to a number of factors such as illness, work commitments and holidays. For Panel and Committee meetings, Members are able to appoint substitutes if they are unable to attend for any reason.
