As part of our commitment to openness and transparency we publish monthly details of the payments we made to external bodies and suppliers, and all credit notes.
To ensure the privacy of individuals and confidentiality some payments made by the council may not be listed or only provided in part.
In the Local Spending Data we publish there may be multiple lines for each transaction number, this is because the value of an invoice may be allocated to a number of different cost centres and account codes.

Excluded information
To ensure the privacy of individuals and confidentiality the following types of payment may not be listed or only provided in part (redacted), in the information we publish.
Spending data excluded from publication
- Salary payments to staff (including bonuses) – Personal information protected by the Data Protection Act (Payments covered by the senior salary scheme, will be published separately)
- Pension contributions (excluding service charge) and National Insurance Contributions – Personal information protected by the Data Protection Act
- Severance payments – Personal information protected by the Data Protection Act
- Transactions relating to the financing or underwriting of debt for example purchase of credit default swaps – Outside the definition of expenditure for this purpose
- Provisions or promises to pay not yet realised – Outside the definition of expenditure for this purpose
Spending data redacted from publication
- Payments to individuals from legal process (compensation payments, legal settlements, fraud payments) – Personal information protected by the Data Protection Act
- Competition prizes (where a normal part of operations) – Personal information protected by the Data Protection Act
- Settlements made with companies as an arbitration which is conditional on confidentiality – Exempt under the Freedom of Information Act
- Potential betrayal of a commercial confidence, or prejudice to a legitimate commercial interest – Exempt under the Freedom of Information Act subject to public interest
