The Immingham & Habrough Neighbourhood Board has held its second meeting and continues to build momentum around long-term investment and community priorities.
Board members reviewed the Government funding allocated over the next 10 years, focusing on how this investment can be used to deliver meaningful improvements across the area.
A number of early “quick win” projects were identified, reflecting priorities already raised by local residents. These proposals will now be developed further and shared with the community for feedback in the coming months.
Over the next decade, £20-million will be invested in Immingham and Habrough, giving local people a significant opportunity to transform their neighbourhoods and improve opportunities for residents.
The Government announced in September that 264 neighbourhoods across the country would benefit from a share of £5-billion through the Pride in Place Programme. The Immingham & Habrough Neighbourhood Board has now been established to oversee the programme locally and identify where funding can deliver the greatest and most sustainable impact.
A key outcome of the recent meeting was the agreement to develop a comprehensive Sport & Leisure Strategy. This will be delivered in partnership with existing clubs, North East Lincolnshire Council, and other stakeholders. The strategy will explore opportunities to enhance current facilities, support new developments, and make better use of existing land across Immingham and Habrough.
To support delivery, the Board has established a series of priority themes, which will form the basis of dedicated sub-groups involving Board members, residents, and subject experts. These themes are:
- Youth Support and Provision
- Anti-Social Behaviour and Crime Prevention
- Sport and Leisure
- Transport
- Local Economy
- Community and Place
- Heritage
Further engagement activity will take place under each theme to ensure local voices help shape future plans.
The Board will also host a public launch event in the near future, offering residents the opportunity to meet members, learn more about the initiative, and share their ideas.
The next meeting of the Neighbourhood Board is scheduled for 24 July 2026.
Andy Hopkins, Independent Chair of the Immingham & Habrough Neighbourhood Board, said: “Board members continue to show real energy and enthusiasm for this project. We’ve identified some early priority projects that we now want to develop and take back to residents for their input. Commissioning a Sport & Leisure Strategy is an important step forward, and we look forward to exploring all of the key themes further while strengthening our engagement with the community.”
Elaine Norton, added: “As Vice Chair, I am pleased to see the progress being made through our second Pride in Place Board meeting. The ideas and priorities we are discussing have already been shaped by the views and experiences of our community, ensuring our work reflects what matters most to local people.
“Our focus is on working together to identify positive ways forward, continuing to listen, engage and collaborate with residents and partners to deliver meaningful, community-led change.”
