Are you a routine and manual worker? Join our financial incentive scheme and earn up to £90 for staying smokefree.
Residents working in routine and manual jobs have some of the highest smoking rates among our communities.
In North East Lincolnshire, 27% of those working in routine and manual occupations are active smokers compared to 19% nationally. This equates to 10% more than the average adult smoking prevalence across North East Lincolnshire.
North East Lincolnshire Council is offering the new financial incentive scheme, alongside one-to-one support, to routine and manual workers to help them stop smoking and reduce the disproportionate levels of long-term illness, reduced life expectancy, and higher demand on health and social care services.
The incentive will see up to £90 earned over a 12-week period in the form of vouchers.
You will get support every step of the way:
- Free stop smoking treatment, including Nicotine Replacement Therapy, a vape or prescribed medication
- Flexible options
- One-to-one support from experts
- Support that fits around your work and life
Councillor Nige Oliver, portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and adult social care at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Every quit attempt is a positive step, and with the right support, people are far more likely to achieve a smokefree life and enjoy the immediate and long-term health benefits that come with it. I would encourage anyone eligible to come forward and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.”
Geoff Barnes, deputy director for Public Health at North East Lincolnshire Council, added: “We know that people working in routine and manual occupations face some of the highest smoking rates in our communities, and we want to do all we can to support those who are ready to quit. By offering tailored one-to-one support, access to effective stop smoking treatments, and financial incentives, we hope to remove some of the barriers that can make quitting difficult.”
Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health and it’s never too late to quit smoking, even if you’ve tried before. Your body will start healing the day you quit smoking.
