Young adults who have grown up in the care of the local authority are set to receive some Christmas gifts thanks to businesses in the area.

The gifts, donated by two businesses in the local area, will go to local residents who grew up in the Council’s care.

Tesco Immingham donated £100 of toiletry gift sets, and local business, Subzero, donated £100 to be spent on stocking-fillers.

Nurses from Grimsby Diana Princess of Wales Hospital also carried out a collection for gifts and Humberston Village Council donated a number of selection boxes.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Each year our staff and members of the wider community go above and beyond to make sure that our care leavers – those young adults who have grown up in the care of the local authority – get to enjoy Christmas as much as possible.

“I’m grateful to those local businesses, organisations and individuals who have donated gifts and their own time to help make this Christmas special for our young care leavers.”
