If this is your first time visiting, if you have changed vehicle or your home address has changed in the calendar year, please complete a Community recycling centre form before coming to the site.
A form must be completed by each member of a household if using a shared vehicle.
Waste can only be brought to the tip from the property you live in.
Locations
There are two recycling centres in North East Lincolnshire, and only residents who live here can use them.
Most other waste and recycling and white goods will be accepted, however please note:
Only small quantities of wood/MDF
Soil and rubble (maximum of three bags per household per day, at either site). We cannot accept soil or rubble from trade or business vehicles, including builders, landscapers, or gardeners.
Clean, dry plasterboard only (maximum of three bags per household per day)
Cardboard can be taken to either, but it will only be recycled if it goes in your blue bin or Grimsby Tip
Break up large wooden items such as wardrobes and chest of drawers
Memory foam mattresses must be cut up – a double mattress in to a minimum of 4 pieces and single mattress in to a minimum of 2 pieces
We do not accept at either recycling centre:
Commercial waste
Contaminated plasterboard with insulation / foil / plaster
Asbestos
Only bonded asbestos from your home can be taken to the tip in Grimsby. You can take asbestos to the tip twice a week, but for only one visit each day with a maximum of 3 sheets at a time.
Asbestos will not be accepted every day or at all times. Please check before you book a slot.
Before you book
(Grimsby Recycling Centre only)
Monday / Tuesday / Thursday / Friday – 8.30 am to 3.30 pm
Saturday – 8.30 am to 12.30 pm
Wednesday / Sunday / Bank Holidays – Asbestos not accepted
Please bring two forms of identification to verify the address of where the asbestos has come from.
You must provide photo ID of yourself and evidence from the address the asbestos is from (utility or council tax bill).
This must be from the originating householder, who needs to attend the tip when the asbestos is being disposed of (person who ‘owns’ the asbestos.)
Collecting and packaging the asbestos
Collect all waste and ‘double bag’ small items in heavy-duty plastic bags and seal with tape.
Larger sheets should be wrapped in heavy duty (minimum 500 gauge) polythene sheets and tightly sealed with duct tape.
The hatch on the Asbestos container measures 4 foot 10 inches wide and is 3 foot deep. (150cm wide, 1 metre deep) Large sheets should be broken (at home, not on the site) to accommodate the hatch size.
PPE
Residents will be required to load their own asbestos directly into the waste container provided and it is their responsibility to ensure the correct PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn when doing so. Recommended PPE: Dust mask (type FFP3), disposable overalls with hood, gloves and safety glasses.
