Bulky waste collections

The service is for disposing of large items of that either don’t fit in the bin, cannot be put out for your normal collection, or can’t be taken to the tip.

What we collect

We can collect up to ten items per booking of bulky waste from households.

Types of service

We collect on weekdays except bank holidays.,

Standard collection – Collects items within 4 to 10 working days.

Rapid collection – Collects items within 1 to 3 working days (subject to availability). If there are no rapid collections available, it will give the next available date. If this is over the 3 working days, please change your collection choice to a standard collection so that the appropriate charge is given.

Book a collection

Terms and conditions

No refunds will be issued to customers if a cancellation of a booking for the collection service is requested, or if items are not presented correctly, for example not presented on the footpath.
All Items should be placed out on the day of collection by 7am. At street level, clearly visible and accessible on the footpath.
All items must be placed on the boundary of the property, where you would normally present your waste bins for collection on the footpath in a safe and responsible manner.
Crews will only take items listed for collection when booked.
Crews will not enter houses, flats, gardens, garage, out-houses, greenhouses, sheds, bin stores, go up any steps/stairs to collect . You must leave all items clearly visible at the boundary of your property on the footpath.
Please do not leave fridges and freezers unattended as they can pose a danger to children. If you are disposing of these items please store the item face down to prevent access or remove/seal up the door.

Crews will not collect commercial waste – please see the business waste page advising how this can be disposed of.
Collections will be dependent upon emergency situations arising for example adverse weather conditions (i.e. snow, floods), vehicle breakdown. If crews are unable to collect your item(s) on your collection date you will be notified via telephone and an alternative date will be scheduled.
If the following items are torn the customer MUST tape the rip over before it will be removed by the Bulky Waste Team:
- Sofas, armchairs, and sofa beds
- Footstools and bean bags
- Office chairs and dining chairs with upholstery
- Electric recliners
The crews will not collect any broken up sofas or armchairs.

Rubbish that has been dumped illegally will be searched and the owner will have legal action taken against them.
