Grimsby developments
Our ambition is to create an attractive and safe town centre where people want to spend time.
To effect this change, our current shops and facilities must be supported with other reasons to visit – leisure, good food outlets and cafes, different businesses, and community facilities.
There are lots of projects in Grimsby town centre, all devised from the Grimsby Town Centre Masterplan. In the early 2020s, the Council talked with hundreds of local people and businesses to find out what they wanted to see in the town centre in the next 10 years. The projects on the ground have come from this work.

Grimsby Town Centre Masterplan
In June 2020, the Council commissioned Arup to develop a detailed town centre Masterplan for Grimsby with the key objective of guiding plans for the investment and delivery of transformational projects for the town over the next 10 years.
The town has progressed a number of projects following its early pilot Town Deal in 2018 with Government and the Masterplan now provides the strategy for the next stage of the town’s development.
Its evidence base has been used to prioritise the town centre projects for delivery, with the Towns Fund programme being the route to this delivery. The Masterplan can be found on the Town Deal page.
The deal lead by the Greater Grimsby Board and backed by public and private investors has unlocked millions of pounds worth of development for the town.
In June 2022, in addition to the successful Cleethorpes bid, North East Lincolnshire Council submitted two further Levelling Up Fund bids to Government. The one for Grimsby (PDF, 1MB) (PDF, 8MB) was successful.
