North East Lincolnshire Council is proud to launch Corporate and Community Parenting Fortnight, starting today and running for two weeks. This special fortnight is a celebration of our shared responsibility to support and champion both the children and young people in our care and those who have previously grown up in care.

Corporate parenting is the collective duty of the council, its staff, and partners to ensure that children in care and care leavers receive the same love, support, and opportunities that any good parent would provide. It’s about making sure they feel safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Throughout the fortnight, the council will host a wide range of events and activities designed to bring together staff, partners, and most importantly the children and young people we care for. From bake off competitions for foster children and a rounders tournament, to a partnership event and a foster friendly business brunch, the programme is a reflection of our commitment to putting young people at the heart of everything we do.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education, said:

“Corporate parenting is one of the most important responsibilities we hold as a council. This fortnight is a chance to celebrate the incredible young people in our care and to recognise the dedication of those who support them every day. Together, we can make a lasting difference in their lives.”

Ann-Marie Matson, Director of Children Services added:

“This fortnight is an opportunity for us as a whole council, our partners and our community, including our businesses, to get alongside our children and young people and celebrate them.

“We encourage everyone to get involved, show their support, and help make this fortnight a meaningful and memorable experience for all.”
