Voice of the child tools

The North East Lincolnshire voice of the Child Tools and guidance will enable a consistent approach to capturing the voice and lived experience of the child.

Missing from home and care protocol

When children go missing from home or care, it’s a key safeguarding issue. Children who go missing are at risk of harm in the short term which can often have long term implications. About 25% of missing children and young people are at high risk of serious harm, and professionals need to judge and assess which children are most at risk. There are worries that children who run away might be exploited sexually or criminally.

This protocol helps all agencies work together to protect missing children. It gives guidance on how to assess the risk of a child going missing and the dangers they face while missing.

Consent and information sharing

Practitioners have advised that it’s sometimes unclear when to ask for consent. Sharing information is crucial for safeguarding and supporting children and young people. These guides explain when you need to get consent and when it’s appropriate to share information.

Escalation Procedure

When different professionals and agencies work together to assess and provide services for people, disagreements and differing opinions are bound to happen. This is especially common when deciding on needs, risks, and the best ways to achieve the safest outcomes. Sometimes, there might also be disagreements about who should provide the services and how to best use the available resources.

North East Lincolnshire aims to be a place where healthy and constructive challenges are seen positively, not as threats. We want to learn from each other, respect different views and opinions, and always work to resolve differences in the best interest of the people we serve.

Safety in sports

In North East Lincolnshire, we want all children to be safe while enjoying activities. Recent reports show that children can be at risk during sports and leisure activities. As an organisation we are responsible for protecting children and informing families about safety during these sporting and leisure activities.
