Have your say

This page will help you find and take part in consultations that interest you. We consider what you tell us and use this, alongside other information, to inform our recommendations and decisions on the related project.

What is a consultation?

A consultation is a process of the public providing their views and feedback on a proposal to consider in the decision-making. Some consultations have to be undertaken as part of ‘official guidance’ within specific projects or pieces of work. Consultations and surveys are also used to seek more general insight and feedback from our communities on certain topics or subject areas.

How does a consultation work?

No two consultation exercises are the same, and how to consult on a particular area/issue or proposed policy/service change or development will be based on each specific project or piece of work.

How can I take part in a consultation?

Consultations are mainly undertaken via online/paper surveys and further insight and engagement can be conducted through focus groups, one-on-ones and pop-up events where necessary.

What are the ‘About You’ questions for?

At the end of some consultations and surveys, you will see an ‘optional’ set of questions titled ‘About You’. We are often asked why we ask questions when the survey might not seem to have an obvious link to them. The reason is it helps us understand who we are reaching with our engagement and if we have gaps (for example age groups, communities of NE Lincs, etc). This could help us look to change how we reach out or share surveys and consultations on future projects and work, hence why we appreciate you taking the time to complete this section.

Not just consultations

We’ve explained what a ‘consultation’ is but that’s not the only type of engagement activity undertaken. This page houses surveys too, from both us and on behalf of partner organisations. We also undertake a variety of other engagement work, such as focus groups, pop-up events and one-on-ones to name a few. We look to ensure the method of engagement fits with the work we are supporting.

We would like to hear from residents about their connection to North East Lincolnshire’s Natural Heritage.

Natural Heritage refers to the natural elements of our borough, such as the beach, open spaces, salt marsh, sand dunes, animals and plants. This research is being undertaken as part of the DUNE Project (dynamic understanding of the natural environment) to understand how these areas are being used by residents and visitors and how they can be improved.

This project is made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

As a thank you for taking the time to complete this short survey, there is the option to be entered into a free prize draw to win a voucher to spend locally in North East Lincolnshire.

If you have any questions please email [email protected].

Answer the survey at DUNE Project.

This survey closes on the 2nd October 2025.

North East Lincolnshire Council has launched its official Budget public consultation for the financial year starting April 2026, so thank you for accessing this link to take part.

This public consultation is part of the whole financial process which takes place annually at this time of the year. North East Lincolnshire Council is now undertaking this work, ahead of the council’s annual settlement from the Government being confirmed.

The settlement, along with money raised via council tax and business rates, represents the Council’s income for the 12 months from next April.  A large amount of this income is used to fund the Council’s statutory services, which include, for example, Adult Social Care and Children’s Services and there are continued pressures in such areas.   The Council, however, is determined to ensure that work to reinvent Grimsby Town Centre will carry on next year, whilst it continues to tackle challenges centred upon the key services and the national economic picture.   In making that pledge the Portfolio Holder for Finance, Resources and Assets, Cllr Stephen Harness, has acknowledged that the Council – like so many others across the country – faces challenging times ahead.

The key areas of spend are as follows, and you can tell us what is important to you (Total Net Budget)

  • Adult Services £69.5M
    Children and Family £64.2M
    Economy and Growth £33.3M
    Environment £20.2M
    Resource and Governance £6.6M
    Public Health £2.1M

This consultation closes on the 9th October 2025.

The first designs for the new Transport Hub on Osborne Street, Grimsby are underway and we would like to know what elements are important to you; from access to facilities.

You also have the opportunity to take part in the 2025 Mid-Year Bus Service Improvement Plan survey. We aim to gather your feedback on the Bus Service Improvements we have introduced in the past year, including fare initiatives such as allowing concessionary pass holders to travel for free before 9:30 am, and discounted evening fares.

We have also implemented bus priority measures which reduces travel time and increase punctuality, as well as increasing the frequency of bus routes.

Your feedback on these designs and service improvements and other aspects of our bus services is crucial.

Thank you for participating and helping us improve public transport in North East Lincolnshire.

To take part please access the survey here: Transport Hub and Bus Service Improvement Plan 2025

Each year, North East Lincolnshire Council is required to survey parents and carers to understand the childcare needs within the local authority. This includes, but is not limited to, funded provision for under 4s and wraparound childcare provision for primary aged children.

As part of the survey, it is important that North East Lincolnshire Council can gain a range of views regarding childcare within the local authority and we would like to hear from parents and carers who use childcare and from those who do not use childcare specifically where there are barriers to provision.

To take part in this survey please visit Parent Childcare Survey 2025.

This survey will close on 31st August 2025

For more information on the topics within this survey (Childcare, Wraparound Childcare, etc) please visit Childcare and funding for not only a host of useful information but the contact details for the Families Information Services, if you have further queries about the survey or local childcare in general.
