Pay your council tax
Please quote your payment reference number – the number can be found on your bill
Pay by direct debit
If you do not already pay by direct debit this can be set up over the telephone. If you are the bank account holder and the bill you want to pay is in your name, give us a call. Alternatively you can print our set up direct debit form and return to the stated address.
Make sure you have your bill and your bank account details to hand.
You can make a payment online, using a debit or credit card using the ‘pay it’ link above.
Pay by telephone
You can pay over the telephone by debit or credit card. Have your card details to hand and call 0300 3030164 option 1.
Pay at the post office or a pay point
Take your bill to a post office or a shop that accepts pay point payments and they will take the payment. A full list of these can be found at allpay. They will not be able to accept payment without your bill.
Pay by standing order
You must arrange this with your own bank

Direct bank transfer
If you bank online, you can use your own bank’s facilities to make a payment on-line.

When is payment due?
There are four payment dates available; the 1st or 15th of each month for cash and direct debit, then the 8th and 22nd of the month for direct debit payments only. New payment arrangements are usually set up to be paid from the 1st of the month. To change your payment date contact the council tax team.
Amounts due should be received on or before the instalment dates shown on your bill. Notices will be issued if payment is not received by the due date. Failure to pay your bill may result in the instalment payment option being withdrawn.
Your council tax balance
You can view your council tax balance online by registering on our self service portal. Once you are logged in, go to the MyAccounts section and confirm your council tax account details to view your balance.
