For the fourth year, young people with special educational needs and disabilities in North East Lincolnshire will be recognised for their achievements in their community.

The annual SEND Awards, which will be celebrated at Grimsby Town Hall next month, are currently open for nominations.

Local residents and professionals are being encouraged to nominate children and young people with additional needs, who achieve remarkable things every day.

Councillor Margaret Cracknell, portfolio holder for children and education at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:

“We have a fantastic community of children and young people who overcome tremendous difficulties and challenges to live life to the fullest.

“We are also lucky enough to have some really wonderful parents and professionals who go out of their way to support their children and other parents.

“These awards are about recognising these unsung heroes and cheer on their achievements.

“I’m sure many of us know a child or young person with additional needs who doesn’t let the challenges that they face stop them from having fun and enjoying life.

“And it’s those young people that we really want to hear about, so if you know of someone deserving of an award, and they meet the criteria, get nominating!”

Nominations close on Monday 10 March 2025. Categories include: the Creative Arts, Friendship, Environment, Community, Education & Learning, Student Personality of the Year, and Sports Award.
