Independent visitors

What is an independent visitor?

An independent visitor or buddy is a volunteer who is there for a young person as a friend and visits them living in care. Independent visitors are also available for those who have left care up to the age of 21.

Our buddies are often hugely valued by the young people. These are people who volunteer their time to help make a difference in your life.

What does an independent visitor do?

A buddy will visit you every month for a few hours at a times. The aim is to build a positive and consistent friendship. The visits can involve anything fun from football in the park, seeing the latest film, ice skating or new things that you want to try. Many buddies have remain friends even after the young person leaves care.
